Korimako Lodge – stylish rooms, panoramic views, delicious food and great dogs

If your idea of a perfect holiday includes superb food, wine and fabulous views in a comfortable semi-isolated country hideaway close to outdoor activities and experiences, then Korimako is the perfect place to discover what makes New Zealand so special.

Your hosts, Steve and Wendy, built Korimako in 2001. The lodge was designed by a local architect to sit comfortably in its naturally beautiful surroundings. It is built predominately of timber, is sited for the natural warmth and light of the sun, and its energy efficient design includes solar hot water heating. We take special care of our unique environment and are committed to good environmental practices.

We offer an intimate and casually luxurious atmosphere in which to soak up the natural beauty of our setting. All the rooms at Korimako are uncluttered and spacious. The use of colour and choice of furniture complement the fabulous views from all rooms – casually elegant and relaxing.

Our guest rooms are stylish with spacious ensuites with powerful showers, and private verandahs with very special views. Relax in our 2-person spa bath with windows that open right out to the forest.

We have two comfortable lounges and dining rooms. The main lounge is a great spot to sit in front of the log fire and enjoy a book.

Other amenities include a drying room for fishing and outdoor gear, broadband internet and Wi-Fi wireless network throughout the lodge, and an unlimited supply of tea, coffee and soft drinks available for our guests.

Delicious food and wine

Our food is appealing and contemporary, a style that complements a meal with guests and friends, and a good bottle of wine. It doesn’t lend itself to any particular label, just quality and flavour without fuss, using the freshest local produce, organic where possible. We make pretty much everything ourselves and special requests, including vegetarian and vegan, are easily accommodated.

We serve a leisurely breakfast – fruit, cereals, yoghurt, homemade breads and preserves including local bush honey, and a hot dish using free range organic eggs.

Our tariff also includes dinner, which is prepared using fresh produce from our garden, and from quality local suppliers.

Our wine list features wines from local Nelson and Marlborough vineyards.

Great dogs

We have two friendly Labradors, Oscar and Shadow – lucky dogs with a view. They normally live outside and only come inside when invited. Shadow is very gentle and just adores sticks and splashing around in water. Oscar is very outgoing and loves walks especially with new friends. Shadow is easily persuaded to go along too! If you are missing your own dogs, Oscar and Shadow would be delighted to step up and fill the gap.
